Default policies to prevent installation

I was having trouble with Windows Installer popping up all the time ... and
following advice found in one of these discussion groups, I made some type of
change to WI to prevent it from doing so anymore. But now I can't install
the new Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2007 - when I try, I get a message that
says "M.O. Pro Plus 2007 encountered an error during setup." And it gives me
a "close" button to push, and that's it! And then this morning I tried to
install some Java Updates, and got a message that said "The system
administrator has set policies to prevent this installation. Windows
Installer." Please help!

Default Re: policies to prevent installation

Hi,

That policy is listed here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Win dows\Installer

Either change the dword value or run my regfile below:

See line 366 - right hand side:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

If the above doesn't help and it should... you may also want to check:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products

Good luck and keep us posted. )
