The words "Windows Task Manager" does not appear. What does appear is
the little green box and in another place on the task bar a computer
icon appears. Nothing happens when I right or left click on that icon.
when I place the mouse pointer over the little green box it shows
the percentage of "cpu usage" nothing else. The little green box is a
kind of bar graph that shows the percentage of cpu usage.

Press Start...press Run...type in...taskmgr...with no
quotes...press Okay.
-
What does that do?

If you get the Task Manager then...options uncheck hide when
minimized. Check the other two options.
