Slave disk on the same IDE controller or on a different controller? Won't that crash the PC? Are you sure the PC won't try to load the mucked up OS on the slave disk? This happened to me once when I installed an old diskdrive with a dual boot system as a second diskdrive. Not sure whether I connected it as a slave though. The PC got inoperable and I had to reinstall Windows. |

if the pc was in the process
of reading and writing to the registry or the disk when the loss of power occurred then you might try to reboot with a windows cd and log into the recovery console. then run the following commands at the disk prompt>: chkdsk fixboot fixmbr then exit and reboot without the cd. the above should work barring hardware failure. there is a possibility that the subsequent electrical spike/surge may have caused a problem. -- db·´¯`·...¸><)))º> "OR" <oeivinr@online.no> wrote in message news:%23hKm9b$tIHA.4476@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > > "Pegasus (MVP)" <I.can@fly.com.oz> skrev i melding > news:%23JuzbgytIHA.4492@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >> >> "OR" <oeivinr@online.no> wrote in message >> news:uXz$WPytIHA.4912@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... >>> Win XP auto reboots repeatedly.
