A suggestion
Right click on dfrg.msc in the System folder. Select Properties and Change. The recommended Programme should be Microsoft Management Console. -- Hope this helps. You can also put it in a batch file that will clean on regular basis, let me know if you need more examples. -- Live & let live, or leave. :-) |

It is GOOD. I have a couple of questions, please. Will running contig.exe in safe mode do a still better job? Does contig.exe optimize free space? Thanks. |

According to their website, Contig is a SINGLE FILE defragmenter, not a disk defragmenter. I think you'd better go there ane read about it some more. |

I know it is a "file defragmenter". On one of the drives drives (used mostly for storing old files which don't change) there were only a handful of fragmented files, including one used by copernic desktop search, but windows-xp defrag showed fragmentation of free space also. I used contig.exe for defragmenting the files, and when I later "analyzed" using windows defrag, free space also showed 0% fragmentation. The fragmented files were probably splitting up free space. |
