Basically It wont boot windows From the HDD AT ALL not reg. or in
safemode. it started a couple days a ago when i was defraging with Perfect disk 2008 . basically i think it fuked up the boot.ini but im not sure with limited access to the file system , im running linux off of cd right now and i do have a bart pe xp on a cd but both cant recognize the c drive basically . what it does ok when u start the pc it goes to xp loading gif and when thats done u see a split sec of blue screen then not off ... reboot again safe now same . what i did ok i have one of those 1000 in 1 program disk it has the bart pe on and a dozen use full tools , i use the hdd regenerator 1.51 and the fujitsu disk diagnostic it said it was fine . i did run the true home image program and it let me browse through the c and choose what to clone i didnt do anything what i think that PD2008 mess up the boot and put there off line defrag in the boot and now its crashing .its like the chk disc it runs a split sec before it boots well any and all help would be appreciated thanks zen_zeno10@hotmail.com |

If it were, you wouldn't get a blue screen - just a different error message. It sounds like the partition table got hosed. If you know how to fix the partition table manually, you could try that. Personally I'd just back up whatever data I needed using the Bart's or Linux Live distro and then do a clean install of Windows. After you get things straightened out, consider that perhaps tinkering less would be A Good Thing. Or buy an external hard drive and an imaging program so you can image your system and tinker to your heart's content, secure in the knowledge that you can restore your machine from the image in minutes. http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html - Clean Install How-To http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...alling_Windows - What you will need on-hand Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" At the F8 screen disable the option to "Automatically restart on system
failure...", that will cause the computer to halt on the BSOD and you may be able to find the cause of the problem with the BSOD information. From your errors, you've hosed the partition table. Either rebuild the partition table by hand (not an easy task and only for experts) or flatten the system and clean install. Standard disclaimer: I can't see and test your computer myself, so these are just suggestions based on many years of being a professional computer tech; suggestions based on what you've written. You should not take my suggestions as a definitive diagnosis. If you can't do the work yourself (and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea), take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). If possible, have all your data backed up before you take the machine into a shop. I don't really have anything further to add since I've said what I think. Perhaps someone else will have a better idea for you. I wish you good luck, and EOT for me. Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" MS-MVP |
