Default Adobe Reader 8

I need help...when I try to open Adobe Reader 8 I get this message.
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000034). Click on OK to
terminate the application.
I have tried everything I know but cannot get Adobe to work...I have already
uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Adobe twice and it does not help. So,
maybe someone out there can.

Update your virus scanner and spyware scanner and run both, do full system
scan.

Try Foxit Reader. Adobe is overbloated.

Uninstall any earlier versions of Adobe, if the 8.0 installation was an
upgrade. Then attempt to reinstall 8.0.
