Default Ctrl F

My wife teaches at a school which is all online. Each student comes to the
class and all subjects and test are based on the computer. She teaches the
eigth grade and when she gives a reading assignment with questions all the
students hit ctrl F and find the key word or answer and are not reading. Is
there a way to disable the ctrl F feature or change it so the students won't
be able to use this feature? You can repond to my email at
ibowla210@yahoo.com

I assume that you are talking about a text processing application
such as MS Word or Acrobat Reader and that Ctrl+F is the
"Search" function in that program. While it is possible to disable
this key combination, it would not be such a good idea, for
several reasons:
- The students would immediately find out that menu functions
such as Edit/Find offer the same functionality. These are much
harder to disable.
- Disabling the key would have repercussions in other programs.
- Disabling this combinations requires a new keyboard map to
be compiled. This would be quite time consuming for a batch
of classroom machines and could be undone by an
enterprising student.

Your wife needs to find an application that does not give the
students the opportunity to take such shortcuts, or she needs
to change her teaching methods so that the students must to
do a lot more than just search for keywords.

This appears to be a feature/bug of the software your wife uses to give
assignments and ask questions. Ask tech support at the program's vendor.

This is a newsgroup; all answers go to the group, not to individual
email; and by posting your email address, you've made yourself a target

Since this course is "Online", how in the world do you expect to cripple
a PC that you have no control over? Perhaps you could review your
question and see if there is is something else you can do?
