hi can anybody help me when i try to shutdown my laptop it will always restart when an ethernet cable is plugged but when i unplugged the cable the laptop

hi can anybody help me

when i try to shutdown my laptop it will always restart when an ethernet
cable is plugged but when i unplugged the cable the laptop will now shutdown.

Verify that wake up LAN setting not enabled.

thanks for replying, can you teach me step by step how to go to the
settings. btw my OS is XP.
