Does anyone have a clue why my desktop PC now keeps entering sleep mode a few seconds after being switched on? It is taking dozens of restarts before it completes. |

Does anyone have a clue why my desktop PC now keeps entering sleep mode a few
seconds after being switched on? It is taking dozens of restarts before it completes. I have made no changes to power settings. I have run chkdsk and created a new boot segment - without avail. Any help much appreciated. Martin |

A "few" seconds. 3, 10, 20? Can you hear the PC beep, does it behave the same if you turn off power to the PC, i.e. from the wall, then turn it on. Off hand either VGA or PSU. |

Thanks for the reply dobey. I never have the sound on so unfortunately I
can't tell if it makes any diagnostic beeps on startup. I have restarted the PC from the mains and the unit and it makes no difference. The time before it goes into sleep mode is anything from 3 seconds - before much has had time to load to perhaps 20 seconds. If the system gets past the third lot of Windows horizontal left to right blue dots, then it usually completes. If I did a start/turn off computer/restart it would work OK. It's taken me 48 restarts to get it running today so I'm tempted to leave it on until I get a solution or a new PC. Don't bother buying a new computer, unless you order one with XP. I've had
Vista since July and my computer goes into the sleep mode nearly every day. And it's impossible to wake it up. I have to unplug it, and then plug it in again. And then it may boot, or just as likely, may not boot. It's a pain in the booty - no pun intended! What method do you use in attempting to wake it? Is your mouse and keyboard
set to bring it out of sleep mode? Perhaps you should contact the vendor before the warranty runs out?
