Apparently my original response got lost somewhere.
The downloads from www.viaarena.com are free. I have been downloading drivers from there for years and have never paid for any of the downloads. www.viaarena.com is the support site for VIA and has always been free. What you have done is clicked on the links for their Sponsor which takes you to a site offering too check your system and charging for their service. You need to pay more attention to what is posted on web sites and read carefully before you go clicking on links. Careless clicking on links is how unsuspecting surfers end up with malware on their computer and then wonder why things are screwed up. 'Not reading carefully is exactly why people end up on
malicious web sites and then wonder what happened to their computer!' I couldn't agree with you more. If you read my last couple of posts, I am using my daughter's computer so that a scan will do me no good. I need to find a site that will have a free download of the driver so that I can put it on a thumb drive and install it in my pc. -- Denise "Bobby Johnson" wrote: > P.S. > > If you clicked on the link from "Recommended: Click here to > run a free scan for all your PCs outdated drivers (Sponsor)" > it does take you to another site, but note that it plainly > states "(Sponsor)" which means it is not a VIA website! > > > Denise wrote: > > Hi Bobby, > > > > The site you recommended is the same site that I had gone to. I clicked on the link again but found nothing. I chose South Bridge
integrated VT8231, VT8233, VT8235 & VT8237 (Rhine & Rhine II), which led me here http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...0&SubCatID=124 I then clicked on VT8237 and was sent here http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/ch...bridge/vt8237/ There are no links to download VIA Fast Ethernet Adapter on any of the above mentioned websites. I didn't click on links that want to sell drivers. I know better than that, and I don't appreciate you speaking to me as a child who doesn't know better. I'm internet saavy and I'm sure that I take better care of my computer than you take care of yours. I'll go to another forum for help. Being talked down to does suit me. -- Denise "Bobby Johnson" wrote: > Apparently my original response got lost somewhere. > > The downloads from www.viaarena.com are free. You were supposed to click on the box:
(Click image to begin download) Clicking on the link for VT8237 takes you to the VIA web site that provides technical information about their products. I clicked on the link to download the file. After waiting about 10 minutes,
I clicked on the mirror. The mirror has nothing for Via Rhine Fast Ethernet Adapter. It's all advertisements and about the company (Via). I've gotten the situation resolved so that this thread can be closed. Thanks for trying to help. Hi Jeff,
http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...D=2&CatID=2460 is the mirror site given that doesn't have a download link. Maybe other people are seeing things that I'm not. http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...0&SubCatID=147 is a page where you can scan your computer for a driver. I can't use that method because my network card is broken and I'm using my daughter's pc. I believe that I mentioned it earlier. I finally got the file so I'll close this threat. Thanks for trying to help. -- Denise "Jeff Gaines" wrote: > On 01/12/2008 in message > <77170E8D-B5BF-4205-B1C3-5EC12DD21191@microsoft.com> Denise wrote: > > >I clicked on the link again but found nothing. > > It's not a helpful site but did you try: > http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...D=2&CatID=2460 > > and then on the list the Rhine chipset is mentioned which leads to: > http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...0&SubCatID=147 > > I started the down-load and it seems to be OK. > > -- > Jeff Gaines Damerham Hampshire UK > Indecision is the key to flexibility > |

The 1st link you give below is not a mirror, it is the
viaarena site. Selecting "South Bridge integrated VT8231, VT8233, VT8235 & VT8237 (Rhine & Rhine II)" took me to: http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...0&SubCatID=124 which is still the viaarena web site. I clicked on the box and received 'rhine_driver_v60_via.zip', 4.8MB, almost immediately. It's a .ZIP file and it is not corrupt. There is no scanning involved if you click on the box! I'm not Jeff but I see a place to "Please select appropriate driver category below" which then takes you to an appropriate download page. > > http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...0&SubCatID=147 > is a page where you can scan your computer for a driver. Thanks for trying to help. This takes me to a page with a link in a box whgich says "(Click image to begin download)" ujnder a link in a black-bordered box. Yes, there is a link below that to do a scan. It might be useful to others if you indicated the source of the file you finally got. > -- > Denise > -- Tom MSMVP 1998-2007 > > > "Jeff Gaines" wrote: > >> On 01/12/2008 in message >> <77170E8D-B5BF-4205-B1C3-5EC12DD21191@microsoft.com> Denise wrote: >> >> >I clicked on the link again but found nothing. >> >> It's not a helpful site but did you try: >> http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...D=2&CatID=2460 >> >> and then on the list the Rhine chipset is mentioned which leads to: >> http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...0&SubCatID=147 >> >> I started the down-load and it seems to be OK. >> >> -- >> Jeff Gaines Damerham Hampshire UK >> Indecision is the key to flexibility >> |
