My windows wont update it comes up with this code, and i ive tried numerous 'solutions' that didnt work including" 1) REGSVR32 %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\WUAUENG.DLL - Didnt work comes up with: The module "C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\WUAUENG.DLL" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005 3) The BiTs restore tool thing, the one that repairs if it's corrupted or something - it said it's not needed currently so I'm assuming my files for Windows Update/BiTs aren't damaged in any way. 4) regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll - Same error code as above -- Revolutionarytruth Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

Hi,
When running the regsvr32 commands, are you doing so from an elevated command prompt? If not, you need to be. The error code tells us you have insufficient privileges to complete the command, and this is usually due to running them from a standard command or run prompt. Click start, type cmd, then right click the menu entry and choose 'run as administrator'. Then run the regsvr32 commands from here. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Revolutionarytruth" <Revolutionarytruth.3jo18e@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:Revolutionarytruth.3jo18e@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com... > > My windows wont update it comes up with this code, and i ive tried > numerous 'solutions' that didnt work including" > > 1) REGSVR32 %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\WUAUENG.DLL - Didnt work comes up > with: The module "C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\WUAUENG.DLL" was loaded but the > call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005 > > 3) The BiTs restore tool thing, the one that repairs if it's corrupted > or something - it said it's not needed currently so I'm assuming my > files for Windows Update/BiTs aren't damaged in any way. > > 4) regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll - Same error code as above > > > -- > Revolutionarytruth > Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com > |

I am posting to you a few options. Might want to try them one by one. Number 1 is
the one that I am betting on. If it is and you fix it then jump first to step 4 and then if you need to then do step 2 and if not then and only then do step 3 0x80070424 = ERROR_SERVICE_DOES_NOT_EXIST (1) Ensure you do not have "Vundo". Clean it up if you do. It seems possible that your Windows installation has been deliberately damaged by a trojan (Vundo, along any uninvited guests. (SDBot and ZLOB, all protected by a rootkit.)) so as to prevent you updating your system or removing the trojan. Your first priority must be to cleanse your PC of all malware. A very good antimalware app is SUPERAntiSpyware. There is a free version (on demand scanning only), the paid for version includes active monitoring, similar to Windows defender: http://www.superantispyware.com/ Can't fix BITS - Windows Update http://www.microsoft.com/communities...9-78997305deff (2) Give this a try and see if it solves the problem.............. Go to Start>Run and key in: regsvr32 wuaueng.dll Click on OK or hit ENTER, wait a few seconds, then click on OK in the RegSvr32 dialogue box. Now, open the registry editor (Start>Run key in regedit then click on OK or hit ENTER) Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\wuauserv Look for a DeleteFlag value and, if it exists, right-click on it and select Delete. (3) Now see if if you can successfully update. If not, then: Go to Start>Run and key in: net stop wuauserv Then click on OK or hit ENTER When the Automatic Updates service has stopped, use My Computer or Windows Explorer to navigate to the C:\Windows or C:\WINNT (if C:\Windows does not exist) folder. Rename the SoftwareDistribution folder to SDOLD Go to Start>Run and key in: net start wuauserv Then click on OK or hit ENTER Now try the Windows Update site and see if the error has been resolved. (4) Have a look at this articles. It may be relevant to your problem. The above explanation was for a previous Version of BITS but, there has been an update for BITS since Vista came out. <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939159> Is BITS disabled ? It can be set to Manual and the system will update successfully but, will not update if BITS is Disabled. Suggest you run the BITS Repair Tool to see if that helps resolve the issue after installing the update for it: <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940520> - Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. And run a Command: sfc /scannow
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 Try Malwarebytes as well. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php Malwarebytes is as the name says, a Malware Remover! For the Free version scroll down their page to either download from Download.com, or Major Geeks.com Download, install, and update. Important re: Safe Mode If you happen to find a problem that you can’t uninstall / delete, reboot the computer, and go into Safe Mode. To get into Safe mode, tap F8 right at Power On / Startup, and use UP arrow key to get to Safe Mode from list of options, then hit ENTER. RESCAN your computer with your Anti-Virus, Malwarebytes and Spybot S & D while in Safe Mode. If unable to install above Programs in Normal Mode: Sometimes Trojans, Viruses, Malware, etc stop you installing and/or updating Programs to remove them. If that happens, reboot into Safe Mode with Networking, and install, update and scan from there. -- Mad Mike "Revolutionarytruth" wrote: > > Rick Rodgers i did the search and it wasn't there.
