You can't have it both ways; either use the mouse to do it or not.

There is a little freeware utility called Squeaky Clean
http://www.kiwisyslog.com/squeaky-clean-overview/ that locks the mouse pointer -- i.e., disables mouse input until the ESC key is hit. Possibly, you could invoke it and use the keyboard to enter Standby mode. Of course, Standby might disable the software, like rebooting would, making it unsuitable for your purpose. Worth a try if you're having trouble bumping the mouse frequently. Here's another one http://tinyurl.com/22a3bn Ron On Sat, 19 Jan 2008 12:08:00 -0800, sendtoaj <sendtoaj@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: >Want to wake computer from standby mode either by click of the mouse or click >of the space bar only. I have DELL Optiplex755 comp and USB optical mouse (this : 'Dell : DELL Dell - Black - Optical - 5 button - USB - Premium - Vista - Mouse : I/O Devices : HOME' (http://tinyurl.com/yslncq) and I have checked also this: 'Logitech USB Optical 3-Button Scroll Mouse' (http://tinyurl.com/29qzf9) ) When the computer goes to stand-by, mouse turns the light off, but buttons stay alive, so I can wake up the computer by mouse click (or by keyboard), but not by mouse movement. This is very convenient behavior [image: http://www.vistaheads.com/forums/ima...ns/icon14.gif]. BTW, the settings is Control Panel->Mouse->Hardware->Properties->Power Management->Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby. Now I am searching for way how to block the mouse also when only monitor is in stand-by state. O.B. -- bflmpsvz Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
