2008 Terminal Server, IE Protected Mode Timeouts loading pages

Hi!

We have just installed a new Terminal Server and have after all the users
has been moved to the new server discovered that SSL pages wont load.
IE just show the bagle/Connecting... and then after a long time you get the
standard "Internet Explorer can't display the webpage" or sometimes actually
show the desired page after at least a minute.

After a lot of tinkering we have found out that this problem is for most
users all the times. But for a few (inluding the administrator) works fine.

If we let it time out and THEN try to surf to a ssl page it works. Until we
restart the browser. A few times it also works directly but those are very
rare.

It also affects popups so if it's a javascript popup on the page and you
click on it the popup shows but doesn't load the page for a very long time.

We have checked the firewall and ruled it out because we have tried another
firewall with the same result.

BUT we have found a WORKAROUND on the problem, if we disable the "Protected
Mode" on the user, everything works without problem.

But this feels like a very bad workaround and it would be much better to
actually find and elinimate the trouble. So if you have any idea it would be
very great.

I hope that you make any sense of my post but I tried to post so much as
possible...

Thanks in advance.

Ps. We have tried fiddeleing with ALL the settings in the browser with no
change. other than the protected modes.
It's an Windows 2008 server standard edition x64 with 2 Quad core cpu's and
a lots of RAM. With all the patches applied from windows update.
Addins that are installed: Java runtime from sun, Macromedia Flash, Adobe
Reader, Silverlight.
If we start IE in the mode "(no addons)" or IE64 we have the same problem.
